GastroNorth Ltd are delighted to welcome Alex Sprawling (Project Admin Apprentice) and James Blanchard (CAD Design Apprentice) to the team!

Richard Toye commented “The company is experiencing growth and we need the team to develop inline with this growth, It’s great to have the guys onboard, they are bright, enthusiastic and eager to learn and development their skills. We believe in giving opportunities to apprentices in the local area, further positions may be available in the new year.”

Alex is full time in the office and works very closely with Shona, Jennifer and Tracey on a day to day basis while James is part time and is working very closely with Ross and Simon in the design team. We wish them every success in their new roles!

GastroNorth complete works at Aveika…

Leisure and care company the Gainford Group has invested significant sums into creating a new Japanese-style bar and restaurant on Newcastle Quayside .

Gainford, which also operates care homes within the North East, has already ploughed several million pounds into former offices on Sandhill, converting the property into the boutique Vermont Aparthotel, which opened earlier this summer.

As well as modern Japanese cuisine restaurant, where food will be served on authentic Japanese crockery custom-made for Aveika, the venue will have a theatre-style sushi bar and robata grill where diners can watch the specialist chefs at work.

GastroNorth shortlisted for prestigious industry accolade

GastroNorth are delighted to have been shortlisted for the catering insight “north of England’ distributor of the year award 2015. The “north of England distributor of the year” Accolade is one of eight catering equipment awards which aims to recognise the leading food service equipment and commercial kitchen suppliers across the country.

Director, Tim Whitfield commented “We’re delighted to have been nominated for this prestigious award, although we haven’t won it, and we’re up against stiff competition, the recognition is thoroughly deserved for all the hard work our team put in on a day to day basis. 2015 has been a great year for everyone at GastroNorth and this sets us up perfectly for a very exciting 2016.”

GastroNorth are part of the Upnorth Group whose head office is based on the Team Valley Trading Estate in Gateshead and currently employ around 100 staff across the group. The company specialises in the design, supply and installation of commercial kitchens and their clients include, Tesco Family Dining, Mitchells and Butlers Pub Group, Durham University, Tavistock Hospitality & Park Leisure to name a few. They are also commissioned to design and install 20 new PSBP schools in the North of England this year.

Senior executives from the industry are be invited to vote for their winner in a closed electronic voting process. The winners of the awards will be unveiled at a gala dinner at the exclusive Hurlingham Club in central London on Wednesday 9 December.

GastroNorth’s Callum Kennedy takes up CEDA Academy role

GastroNorth are delighted to announce that Callum Kennendy, Account Manager has taken up a position in the CEDA Academy, a group set up in late October by CEDA chairman Adam Mason which brings together the next generation of industry talent to share experiences, learn new industry specific skills and network with like minded individuals to enhance and speed up their development within the industry.

The first meeting of the CEDA Academy was hosted at First Choice Groups HQ and brought together young talent from different job roles in foodservice design, equipment and servicing sector. The group of 19 members identified three clear focus points going forward – Education and Learning Development, Sustainability and Supply Chain Relations.

Adam Mason commented: “There was a huge amount of positive energy in the room with everyone keen to pick up different industry perspectives and learn from each other. It was good to know we have a consensus from those in the Academy who are very keen to work on the three key topics of Education and Learning Development, Sustainability and Supply Chain Focus. This gives them the core goals to reach a range of positive outcomes.”

Richard Toye Director at GatroNorth added, “We are delighted to put Callum forward for the CEDA Academy, it’s a great initiative and he’s a bright talent! There are industry knowledge gaps which are now being addressed by CEDA which is fantastic. Any scheme that embraces learning and staff development gets the thumbs up from GastroNorth, Callum as been with us now for almost 4 years and he’s hungry to learn everyday”.

New offices required for continuing growth for GastroNorth

We are delighted to announce there office relocation into Merlin House which is located in the Team Valley, Gateshead.

Due to sizeable company and group growth GatroNorth Ltd were delighted to make the move into the state of the art office facility which houses 100 employees, conference rooms, meeting areas, break out kitchen area and spacious open office hot desks.

Tim Whitfield commented “Moving into Merlin House has been a refreshing change for us all and the team have embraced the move. The office decor has been designed to be professional, fresh and modern in reflection to our overall company image. We love inviting clients in to see us and we are proud of what we have. The next stage of development is to create our own commercial kitchen area which we are aiming to complete in the coming months”.
